Mike McCarthy, Chairman, MHI Canada 

Mike McCarthy joined MHI Canada Aerospace Inc. as Vice President Operations in April 2013. He was appointed President in April 2014 and now holds the position as MHICA's Chairman of the Board. MHICA is responsible for the manufacture and delivery of the Bombardier Challenger 350 Wing and the Global 5000/6000 Wing and Center Fuselage. McCarthy's major objective has been to effectively lead the operation through its Bombardier business transition from MHI Nagoya to Canada and position the company for growth. Since then, he has worked to build and establish MHI Canada Aerospace as a world class heavy aerostructures supplier and strategic North American aerospace manufacturing site. He also serves as a Director for the Ontario Aerospace Council. Mike was recognized in 2016 by the Mississauga Board of Trade receiving Mississauga Business Person of the Year honors. MHICA was then also recognized in 2017 as Mississauga's Large Business of the Year. 

McCarthy began his career in the aerospace industry with McDonnell Douglas Canada in 1977 as a mechanic. With a background in manufacturing, quality and lean principles, he held various positions within the company progressing to Director of Operations through the merger with the Boeing Company in 1997. Over the span of his career, he has developed comprehensive knowledge in all aspects of the business. He worked extensively on MD-80/90, MD-11, F-18 and B-717 major structures fabrication and assembly programs along with complex part fabrication / processing for C-17, Delta Rocket and 737 platforms. 

He graduated from the Executive Development Program at Queens University. During his time at Boeing McCarthy graduated from the Boeing Executive and Leadership Development programs at the Boeing Leadership Centre. He also graduated Shingijutsu Kaizen / Lean Manufacturing training in Japan.
