PRINTABLE, FLEXIBLE AND HYBRID ELECTRONICS
"WHAT’S IN IT FOR THE AEROSPACE INDUSTRY?"

The printable, flexible and hybrid (FHE) electronics technologies provide significant advantages to aircraft manufacturers. It allows reduction of weight and space of electrical cable systems, allows high level of automation, and most importantly it opens possibilities for customization accordingly to customer needs. Organic electronics, e.g. OLED lighting, opens new possibilities in interior design. Aerospace professionals have been monitoring progress of printed and flexible electronics for over two decades. Only recently have the materials used for such electronics reached the level of performance demanded by aviation manufacturers.

Join us to learn more about cutting edge technologies, hear examples of successful implementations and get a glimpse into future! You will also have the opportunity to visit the University of Waterloo's Quantum-Nano Centre and Giga2Nano Lab, along with a visit to VueReal's headquarters.

Objectives:

  1. To give a perspective to the state of the art in printed, flexible and organic electronics technologies
  2. To discuss current research undertaken by the University of Waterloo and the National Research Council (NRC)
  3. To discuss Industry examples, challenges and opportunities for growth
