|Val Wilson, VP, Dishon Ltd.|
Val Wilson, Vice President, Dishon Limited
Valerie Wilson joined Dishon in 1999 and is now Vice-President of the Vaughan, Ontario company. She is responsible for all day-to-day operations, financial management and business development. She applies her financial and accounting experience to all aspects of Dishon’s markets and products. Her entrepreneurial approach and get-it-done attitude have been key to growing Dishon’s aerospace presence, including guiding the expansion of Dishon’s manufacturing activities into Mexico.
Val was the catalyst that got Women in Aerospace-Canada off the drawing board and into existence. Under her leadership and along with a small group of enthusiasts, the inaugural luncheon of WIA-Canada was organized at the Toronto Aerospace Museum. Her development of the core concept, her reaching out to the US organization and her moving WIA-Canada forward to join the Global Network of Women in Aerospace at the 2010 Farnborough Airshow speak to the passion and energy she applied to this program of promoting the interests of women in Canada’s aerospace community. Val was recently elected as Chair of the WIA-Canada’s first Board of Directors.
Val was recently elected as a Director of the Ontario Aerospace Council representing the SME sector. She also serves as a Board Member of a not for profit organization, Eden House Community Center, where she directed the committee in the purchase of an additional home, which now houses ten homeless women with mental health issues.
